What is stored on your device

Your location (coordinates, timezone, elevation and the name shown for it), which zmanim and opinions you display, any personal dates you add — names, birthdays, weddings, yahrzeits — and your language, theme and accessibility settings are saved in your browser’s local storage.

Unless you sign in to sync it (see below), none of this leaves your device — on its own the site has no user-data backend. Clearing this site’s data in your browser erases everything held locally.

Signing in with Google

Signing in with Google is optional. When you do, Google gives the site your name, email address, profile picture, and a one-time token proving who you are.

The site sends that token once to the Zmanim bot service — the same backend that runs the Telegram bot — which verifies it and returns an identifier for your settings. Your name, email and picture stay in your browser, only to show which account you are signed in as. The bot receives the sign-in token (which carries your Google id and email) in order to verify it, but keeps only the identifier it derives — not your Google id or email themselves.

From then on your settings are stored by that service under the identifier so they sync across your devices; this can include the personal dates you add — names, birthdays, anniversaries. The data is never used for advertising and never sold, and the site does not contact Google again after you sign in. Signing out removes the identifier and profile from this browser.

Signing in with Telegram

Signing in with Telegram is optional. The signed payload Telegram returns is stored in your browser and used to identify you to zmanim_bot, which keeps your settings next to the ones you set in the bot itself.

Disconnecting removes it from your browser, and it stops being accepted 90 days after you signed in.

Services the site contacts

Searching for a place queries Open-Meteo; turning coordinates into a place name queries BigDataCloud; elevation for a location comes from Open-Meteo. Those requests carry the text you typed or the coordinates being resolved, and are subject to each provider’s own privacy policy.

The “detect my location” button asks your browser for GPS, and only after you allow it. The coordinates stay on your device and are used solely for the lookups above and to compute your times.

Daily-learning entries link to Sefaria; Sefaria is contacted only if you follow such a link.

Cookies, analytics and logs

The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no analytics of any kind. One cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, remembers the language you picked.

The web server keeps ordinary access logs (IP address, page requested, browser) for operating and securing the site.

Removing your data

Sign out of Google or disconnect Telegram to remove the stored credential from this device and stop syncing. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes everything held locally.

If you signed in with Google, your synced settings are held by the Zmanim bot service under an identifier derived from your account — not your Google id or email. While signed in, “Delete synced data” in Sync & backup erases them from the server for you; settings no device has synced for a long time are also removed automatically.

Signing in with Telegram stores your settings in zmanim_bot under your Telegram user id, along with the name and username Telegram supplies. Saved locations can be deleted one by one in the bot’s /location menu; to have everything erased, ask through /report in the bot or through the contacts below.

Changes and contact

If the app ever collects, stores or contacts something new, this page changes with it and the date above moves.
